If you want to know what sensations the first tourists felt who travelled into space with Virgin Galactic or if you would like to prepare to be one of them, the space training simulator at the NASTAR Centre in Philadelphia could make your dream a reality.
The training programmes, which last either one or two days, allow an understanding of the effects of gravity on the body during the phases of take off and re-entry. You will experiment the most realistic simulation possible of a suborbital flight: the decoupling from the mother ship, the firing-up of the rocket engine and its acceleration to 4,000 km per hour, the serenity of a few minutes zero gravity, and then re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere.
Training in the NASTAR centre includes theory classes and two to four flights in the Gyrolab simulator (also known as the ‘Centrifuge’) depending on the programme selected.
The price includes theoretical training, flights in the simulator, training suit, official certificate, guide to the space flight, a DVD with a recording of the flight simulation, a commemorative NASTAR plaque and lunch.
"Continuing the family tradition, fate has brought me to end up in a centrifuge! The best moment for me: Re-entry. Now I think I know where my stomach is again!"
