Bhutan
The land of the fiery dragon
Also known as 'the land of the fiery dragon', Bhutan is a dynastic kingdom tucked away in the Himalayas. Its people retain certain traditions and a way of life that have been unchanged for centuries.
Open to tourism since 1974, the rich cultural and religious heritage of the country is evident as much through its dance and traditional ceremonies as through its art and architecture.
The wisdom and hospitality of its people are utterly captivating for the traveller. Here you have the opportunity to wander through villages or trek through mountains, visit temples or shop for local crafts in the markets, relax with yoga or with traditional massages.
“I hope my daughter Carla will remember the ascent to Tiger Nest Monastery, at an altitude of 3,120, which she made when she was just seven years old.”
